General information
What
BC Policy Solutions’ annual Gala is our flagship fundraising event. It brings together donors, community leaders, researchers and advocates from across the province. The evening is a community-building event as we create space for the conversations that shape bold, progressive policy in BC.
This year’s Gala will take place on November 12, 2026, from 5:30 to 9 pm Pacific Time at the Fraserview Hall (8240 Fraser St., Vancouver, BC).
Our keynote speaker for 2026 is author, journalist, activist and New York Times-bestselling science fiction writer Cory Doctorow. His keynote presentation will be on: Disenshittification: How we break free from the US tech grip and leverage digital sovereignty for the public good.

Keynote speaker
Cory Doctorow (craphound.com) is a science fiction author, activist and journalist. He is the author of dozens of books, including the non-fiction bestseller ENSHITTIFICATION: WHY EVERYTHING SUDDENLY GOT WORSE AND WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT and the novel PICKS AND SHOVELS. His latest book is THE REVERSE CENTAUR’S GUIDE TO LIFE AFTER AI (June 2026). Born in Toronto, Canada, he lives in Los Angeles and London.
